Michael and Cora Betts Legacy Foundation
About the Michael & Cora Betts Legacy Foundation The Michael and Cora Betts Legacy Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 2008 by Mike and Debbie Betts. A tragic automobile accident took the lives of two of their children, Michael (14) and Cora (4) much too early. The overwhelming amount of support that Mike, Debbie, and their other two children, Aspen and PJ, received inspired them to launch the Foundation in hopes of helping families and children in similar situations, but without the same support. Through fundraisers that best reflect the lives of Michael and Cora, the Foundation is committed to helping children who have lost loved ones. Their hopes are to be an inspiring force to change the world one child at a time.
The Story Behind: "Everything Is Going To Be Okay"
One day, a long time ago, Mike Betts was a single, not-so-hard working twenty-something who lived in a little apartment with his best friend, Rob. They lived that single-guy lifestyle without a care in the world. They had jobs, rent money, girlfriends, and things were going well. And one day, without warning and without the aid of Rob's special effects, Mike heard a voice. He was in the shower and heard a voice say, "Everything is going to be okay."
Mike didn't know what the voice was talking about. Everything was already okay, and Mike just put it behind him thinking that maybe he was going a little crazy.Over the next several years, Mike looked back at the memory of this message during tough times. It became a calming force to help him through the challenges he's faced so far.
Now, "Everything is going to be okay" has become a sort of strength to all of us. We know that together we will be able to fight our way through the tough times that seem to surround us today, and we'll all be okay. Someday we'll be able to look back, and say that we made it through this with the help of our family, friends, neighbors, even total strangers. And that voice will have been right all along.
